Remember that Resident Evil 2 mod that replaces Mr. X with the equally terrifying Thomas the Tank Engine? Well, the blue fella has now turned up in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, replacing the Great Serpent. The Thomas the Snake Engine mod can be snapped up on NexusMods now, and has Thomas doing everything the serpent would normally do, including twisting and turning in ways a blue tank engine shouldn’t. The mod also comes with Thomas’ trademark whistle just in case you have trouble finding him....

Developer Frogwares has offered up another peek at Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One in its latest trailer. This time, we’re focused on the fact that the game will be a prologue adventure for the detective. This younger version of the world-famous detective has returned home to the island of Cordona to investigate his mother’s death. Sherlock Holmes will be joined in his quest by childhood companion, Jon. He’s not the not-yet-great detective’s usual sidekick John Watson, but an entirely new mysterious character....

Today Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai launched a new video on his YouTube channel commenting on the price of video games. Sakurai-san recently opened a YouTube channel in which he talks mostly about game development, and in today’s video, he argues that games are really affordable. Sonic Frontiers will have free Monster Hunter DLC a week after its release. This is the first DLC announced for Sega’s open zone adventure, a collaboration with Capcom’s hugely successful hunting series. It will launch on 14th November and include two costumes for Sonic: Rathalos and Felyne Rathalos. Despite what many fans expected, Sonic Frontiers did not make an appearance at yesterday’s Summer Game Fest event. This may have led to either disappointment or relief depending on your perspective, but since IGN plans to trickle out Sonic Frontiers news throughout June anyway, we really don’t need a Summer Game Fest announcement. In fact, IGN just provided us with an interview with Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka. Much of this interview consists of Iizuka explaining what the developers had in mind when making Sonic Frontiers, but he also had something interesting to say about Sonic Adventure....

Sony’s John Kodera has indicated the electronics giant isn’t done with portable gaming, despite the fact PlayStation Vita is pretty much on its last legs in all territories but Japan. Speaking during a roundtable event in Tokyo earlier this week, Kodera revealed that Sony is keeping an eye on what consumers want to see in regards to the portable gaming space, but wouldn’t be drawn into talking about any specific hardware ideas....

Sony’s President and CEO has confirmed that no Vita 2 is coming, so you can all stop holding your breath. We loved the Vita. Heck, there are still people out there that use the Vita to this day. That’s despite the fact that it’s almost a decade-old portable system that has long since been supplanted by phones and/or the Nintendo Switch. However, Sony has basically said that they’re not planning on getting back into the handheld market anytime soon....

The pricier new PlayStation Plus Premium subscription will include time-limited game trials - and now Sony has reportedly informed some developers it will need to ensure it provides them. According to a GameDeveloper report, PlayStation has updated its developer guidelines to state that a game demo lasting at least two hours will now be required for any title which costs $34 or higher (around £27). This rule is not retroactive, so will only apply to games currently in development and not yet released....

This week is a little thin on content - unless you’re really into Valentine’s Day. That said, there’s still plenty of great content to check out - especially the public demo for Sony’s upcoming action-drama Heavy Rain (which was previously only available to players following the “Four Days” alternate reality game). Square Enix has finally told us what the heck “Data Greeting” mode is in Kingdom Hearts III’s upcoming Re Mind DLC. About a month ago, we found out a few features that were coming in Re Mind, the new Kingdom Hearts III DLC. Obviously, there would be a new addition to the campaign, as well as two episodes called Limit and Secret, but there were also a few new game modes that were labeled but not really explained....
